Cancellation Policy 

Cancellations for the 2027 Critical Care Congress and associated events must be submitted in writing and are subject to a $100 nonrefundable processing fee. Cancellation requests for the event must be postmarked or submitted via email to support@sccm.org or fax at +1 847 439-7226 by January 15, 2027. Cancellation requests postmarked or submitted after this date will not be refunded. Please allow four weeks to process refunds.

Do you have an innovative idea or solution that can transform critical care? Submit your pitch or poster proposal for the Critical Care Innovation Incubator by October 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, for possible inclusion in the 2027 event.

Why should you submit a proposal?

• Gain feedback and resources to support your innovation or current venture
• Build powerful new partnerships to accelerate your idea from concept to bedside
• Increase your visibility in the critical care space

Submit your proposals by October 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, for possible inclusion in the 2026 event. Decisions will be communicated in November 2026.

General Criteria

• Submit ideas and active projects for potential commercialization to improve care for critically ill or injured patients.
• Proposals must feature an established product, prototype, MVP, or technology at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 or higher, meaning proof of concept has been demonstrated through analytical or experimental work.
• This opportunity is not intended for research ideas, unmet-need statements, or preliminary concepts without a validated proof of concept.
• Applicants should be prepared to describe the current stage of development, evidence supporting feasibility, and the next milestone toward commercialization or implementation.

• Selected applicants are required to register to attend the live, in-person event on March 13, 2027.

Proposal Details

• Pitches
  • Topics: Innovations that are scalable and address unmet needs in critical care.
  • Format: The top four pitches will be selected to present a live five-minute pitch during the course to attendees and a panel of judges. The judges will then vote to determine which finalist will receive the award.
  • Benefits: Selected pitch submitters will showcase their ideas to a diverse audience of industry leaders, clinicians, and investors, fostering collaborations and support for further development. The winning pitch will receive $10,000.
• Posters
  • Topics: Innovations that are scalable and address unmet needs in critical care.
  • Format: Chosen posters will be displayed prominently throughout the event venue. The attendees and a judging panel will vote to determine a winner.
  • Benefits: Accepted posters will be featured prominently, providing presenters with visibility among attendees, potential collaborators, and investors interested in advancing critical care innovations. Attendees and a judging panel will vote on the posters. The highest-rated poster will be awarded $5,000.
• Selection Criteria: Relevance to critical care innovation, potential impact on patient outcomes, novelty of the idea, and feasibility.
• Submission Requirements: You must register to attend the event to be selected to present your pitch or poster. You do not need to be an SCCM member to submit. Please provide following information in your proposal:
  • Problem Definition
    Clearly describe the clinical need being addressed, including its significance and impact on patient care, healthcare systems, or outcomes.
  • Proposed Solution
    Explain what you are building and how it addresses the identified problem.
  • Market Opportunity
    Outline the total addressable market (TAM), serviceable addressable market (SAM), and your initial target customer segment.
  • Clinical and Technical Validation
    Provide evidence supporting the feasibility, effectiveness, and technical viability of your solution.
  • Business and Regulatory Strategy
    Describe your commercialization approach, business model, and plans for navigating applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Competitive Landscape and Differentiation
    Identify existing alternatives and explain how your solution is unique or provides a meaningful advantage.
  • Team and Execution Plan
    Introduce your team, highlight relevant expertise, and summarize key milestones for development and implementation.
