The Society of Critical Care Medicine's (SCCM) hosted Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support (PFCCS) course combines expert-developed lectures with hands-on skill stations to train nonintensivists and other healthcare professionals to recognize critical illness and initiate care for the critically ill pediatric patient.

The course addresses fundamental management principles for the first 24 hours of post-resuscitation management of the critically ill pediatric patient until transfer or appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged and is recommended for any healthcare professional who may encounter a critically ill or injured pediatric patient.

Course length: 2 days

Course features:
  • Flexible learning formats: in-person and online
  • Interactive presentations
  • Case-based skill stations
  • Pre- and posttests
  • Companion textbook
  • Certificate of successful course completion
  • Continuing education credit hours (if offered by the course site)
The course is available in two licensed, director-led formations—traditional hosted and online hosted. The in-person hosted course consists of face-to-face lectures and skill stations. The online hosted course consists of web-based lectures and in-person skill stations.

To receive the certificate of successful completion, course participants must attend all didactic lectures, successfully complete all skill stations, and achieve a score of 70% or higher on the posttest.
