This guideline, published by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), is an update of the 2008 consensus statements for the diagnosis and management of critical illness-related corticosteroid insufficiency (CIRCI) in adult and pediatric patients. Crit Care Med 2017; 45(12):2078-2088
Guidelines for Family-Centered Care in the Neonatal, Pediatric, and Adult ICU aim to provide clinicians with evidence-based strategies to optimize the support of the family of critically ill patients in the ICU. These guidelines identify the evidence base for best practices for family-centered care in the ICU. All recommendations were weak, highlighting the relative nascency of this field of research and the importance of future research to identify the most effective interventions to improve this important aspect of ICU care.
A Statement for Healthcare Professionals from the Neurocritical Care Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
The Gap Analysis Tool is meant to help those implementing the Guidelines for Family-Centered Care in the Neonatal, Pediatric, and Adult ICU. The tool will help clinicians rapidly develop a bundle of recommendations tailored to the needs of a specific intensive care unit (ICU).
