As the humanitarian emergency unfolds and grows deeper in the Mideast, SCCM extends its unwavering support to the critical care community and patients.

Whenever a crisis erupts that results in severe injury and illness, SCCM’s Crisis Response Team proactively responds. These efforts are in service to SCCM’s mission to secure the highest-quality care for all critically ill and injured patients.
October 2023
  • SCCM reached out to more than 700 contacts in the region affected by the crisis. This outreach included free online educational resources targeted to crisis response and management.
  • SCCM was contacted by individuals officially representing the Ministry of Health of Israel and the Palestinian Ministry of Health. These individuals requested that SCCM activate its official call for volunteers. SCCM sent two separate calls for volunteers to more than 200,000  contacts on behalf of each of these government agencies. SCCM does not deploy volunteers; it helps in the recruitment of volunteers upon official request. Learn more about the criteria and process for submitting an official request for volunteers.

About Calls for Volunteers

SCCM recruits volunteer critical care clinicians on behalf of government agencies upon official request. A request to organize a call for volunteers can be made for emergency situations of all kinds. Requests must be made by a government agent or other group/representative with medical licensure clearance authority or their official SCCM member designee. SCCM will then work directly with them to provide the information required and recruit volunteer clinicians from the critical care community. Learn more about the criteria and process for submitting an official request for volunteers.
