WEBCAST 2

Sustaining Excellence in POCUS Education

Tuesday, August 18, 2026
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Central Time

This webcast explores how to build and sustain a longitudinal critical care point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) education program, from initial training to ongoing competency. Learn practical strategies for curriculum design, local teaching models, and integrating credentialing pathways such as NBE Critical Care Echocardiography and gain clear guidance on appropriate use and limitations.

Designed for educators and program leaders, this session addresses learner-specific pathways across trainees, APPs, and experienced ICU physicians, while highlighting the essential role of image review and quality assurance in maintaining education rigor and high clinical standards.

Series Learning Objectives

  • Design and implement a sustainable POCUS program by understanding the essential elements of infrastructure, credentialing, and governance
  • Optimize billing, coding, and documentation to support financial stability and compliance with institutional and payer requirements
  • Foster interdepartmental collaboration by aligning POCUS efforts with existing resources in Radiology, Cardiology, and Emergency Medicine
  • Develop and maintain POCUS programs that reinforce competency, appropriate use, and longitudinal skill development among providers

Practice Gap Addressed in this Series

Despite widespread adoption of POCUS in critical care, many programs remain fragmented and lack formal governance, sustainable infrastructure, and integration into clinical workflow. Leaders often struggle to secure institutional support, protected time, equipment resources, and leadership buy-in, leading to inconsistent or stalled implementation.

This webcast series directly addresses these challenges by presenting a practical, end-to-end roadmap for building and sustaining effective critical care POCUS programs. It also provides actionable strategies to overcome real-world barriers and create a foundation for long-term success.
