Margaret Parker, MD, MCCM, speaks with Philip Toltzis, MD, about the article, “Evidence-Based Pediatric Outcome Predictors to Guide the Allocation of Critical Care Resources in a Mass Casualty Event,” published in the September 2015 issue of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Toltzis is Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and formerly was the Medical Director of the Pediatric ICU and Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. In this article, Dr. Toltzis and coauthors devise a Crisis Standards of Care triage allocation scheme specifically for children.
