Ludwig Lin, MD, speaks with Derek C. Angus, MD, MPH, FRCP, about his upcoming talk, “Fusing Clinical Care with Clinical Research: The Future of the Randomized Control Trial in a Self-Learning Healthcare System,” which he will present this February at the 45th Critical Care Congress in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Angus is Professor and Chair of the Department of Critical Care Medicine, and serves as Director of the CRISMA (Clinical Research, Investigation, and Systems Modeling of Acute Illnesses) Center at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Angus discusses the limitations posed by randomized control trials (RCTs) and big data individually, and the potential benefits of fusing them.
