Michael S. Weinstein, MD, FACS, FCCM, speaks with Giovanni Landoni, MD, about the article, “Mortality in Multicenter Critical Care Trials: An Analysis of Interventions With a Significant Effect*,” published in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Landoni works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy. In this article, Dr. Landoni and coauthors aim to identify all treatments that affect mortality in adult critically ill patients in multicenter randomized controlled trials. They also evaluate the methodological aspects of these studies, and survey clinicians’ opinions and usual practice for the selected interventions.
