Gaieski, MD, lead author on an article published in the May Critical Care Medicine titled, “Benchmarking the Incidence and Mortality of Severe Sepsis in the United States.” The study found that there is substantial variability in incidence and mortality of severe sepsis depending on the method of database abstraction used (Angus, Martin, Dombrovskiy, Wang).
