Babak Sarani, MD, is a trauma surgeon and an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the medical director of the surgical rapid response team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Sarani serves as a course director for the Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) and Fundamental Disaster Management (FDM) programs and offers insight into the value of these programs, the road to becoming an instructor and how to establish FDM or FCCS at one's own institution.
