The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) received funding for the initial phases of a project dedicated to reducing mortality from sepsis in low-resource settings. Phase 1 of the project will focus on better understanding the needs of those in low-resource settings through clinician surveys and focus groups, along with a literature review to determine available evidence of care and treatment in these settings. Phase 2 will focus on developing resources to help these areas, including revising the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines and existing implementation tools, developing new resources, and translating resources as needed.

About the Laerdal Foundation
The Laerdal Foundation was established to provide financial support to practically oriented research projects that can help prevent needless deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, trauma, and during birth. The foundation particularly prioritizes applications in the focus areas defined in its strategy that are considered to have a high potential to improve patient outcomes.
