COVID-19 Mitigation

The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) adheres to the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local governments, based on the level of community spread where an event is located. This guidance is subject to change at any time. SCCM will update this information as needed.

Check the CDC COVID-19 Community Level

Individuals attending any in-person event should determine what mitigation efforts are most appropriate for them. SCCM provides complimentary masks and antigen tests at all in-person events. For events located in areas where the community spread level is medium or low:
  • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended.
  • Testing before travelling is recommended.
  • Daily testing during the event is strongly recommended. Complimentary antigen self-tests are available from SCCM upon request.
  • Masks are not required. Complimentary masks are available from SCCM for anyone who wants to wear a mask.
  • Safety protocols, such as proper hand hygiene and social distancing, are effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Please keep these measures in mind when attending in-person events.

At any SCCM event, self-isolate and contact SCCM Staff at health@sccm.org immediately if you:
  • Produce a positive COVID-19 test result
  • Begin to feel unwell, even with symptoms of the common cold or influenza
