Critical Care Quality Summit

In response to the latest hurricane season developments, the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) has made the decision to cancel the Quality Summit that was to take place on September 17-18, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
 
SCCM will be offering all Quality Summit registered attendees a full refund on their registration, along with an opportunity to participate in a free webcast on Monday, September 17, 2018 between the hours of 11 am – 2 pm central standard time. Faculty are being consulted and an agenda for this event will be forthcoming. For ease of access, attendees will be automatically registered and a confirmation will be sent via email. Please note that SCCM is assessing the option of rescheduling the Quality Summit.

Critical Care Quality Summit​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The Critical Care Quality Summit is a unique conference focused on peer-to-peer learning led by expert faculty exploring hot topics in critical care patient safety and quality. The intensive care unit (ICU) team is encouraged to attend, as well as individuals who can plan to return to their ICU equipped with innovative implementation strategies. This event will cultivate an environment of learning and sharing with like-minded critical care professionals with the goal of improving bedside care.

  • Network and learn from peers on how to overcome barriers for success and sustain gains
  • Share experiences through abstract submission and poster presentations
  • Build on teamwork with a multiprofessionally focused event
  • Learn about 2019 SCCM collaborative opportunities
  • Earn continuing medical education credit hours​
Learning Objectives:
  1. Assess findings from the Critical Care Societies Collaborative National Summit on Clinician Burnout
  2. Debate how critical care quality and safety will change the future of bedside care
  3. Discuss the updated PAD-IS guidelines
  4. Examine implementation strategies for patient and family centered care
  5. Assess ethical considerations for EOL planning
  6. Review patient safety and quality abstracts​
Abstract submission closed June 29, 2018. Notification of abstract acceptance will be sent to the contact author by July 2018. The top abstracts will be featured in poster presentations.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive with project ideas they would like to define strategies and implementation guidelines for. SCCM has created a visioning tool for attendees to get started.

Cancellation/Refund Policy
Cancellations must be submitted in writing. All cancellations are subject to a $75 nonrefundable processing fee and must be postmarked before August 22, 2018, to be eligible for a refund. Cancellations postmarked after this date will not be refunded. Dates for Critical Care Quality Summit are subject to change and/or cancellation. In the event of cancellation, only individual registration fees will be reimbursed. Please allow four weeks to process refunds.​

Learn How to Submit an Abstract to the Quality Summit​

Eligibility Requirements 
  • ​Abstracts and/or data previously presented or published nationally or internationally are not allowed  
  • Abstracts presented at an SCCM chapter meeting are allowed 
  • Abstracts submitted for the quality summit may also be summitted for Congress 2019 
  • Abstracts may contain new research on a topic presented previously  
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present the abstract as accepted   

Review Process
Abstracts will be scored on the following criteria: 
  • Scientific merit   
  • Adequate sample size and proper statistical analysis   
  • Adherence to instructions   
  • Originality of work
Alterations and Withdrawals 

SCCM does not edit or proof abstracts. By saving each step you complete in the submission process, you can log off and return to continue your work at another time. As long as you do not formally submit the abstract (by selecting the "Yes, I’m ready to submit" link), you can edit and revise it online as much as you wish. Once an abstract is formally submitted, corrections cannot be made. If changes to a submission are needed, you must withdraw the abstract and create a new, revised submission.

Acceptance 
The contact author will be notified in June via e-mail of the abstract's acceptance or rejection. Please ensure that the contact author's e-mail address is included with the abstract submission. All notifications and correspondence will be directed to the contact author indicated in the submission. It is the responsibility of the submitting author to confirm that all author e-mail addresses are current at the time of submission to ensure that any notifications sent from the system are received. All decisions made by the Review Committee are final. 

Expenses
  • Expenses associated with an abstract's preparation, submission, and presentation are the responsibility of the presenter(s)/author(s).  
  • Authors of accepted abstracts are expected to register for the meeting and pay the meeting registration fee.
