The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) supports education and research programs for critical care professionals while providing valuable information to the public through gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations. The SCCM has identified the following essential programs to apply your support, each of which focuses on improving care in the ICU:

Grants Available for FCCS Programming
The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) has funding available to provide Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) courses for organizations in developing or impoverished nations. Qualified applicants may receive SCCM grants to pay for FCCS course licenses and textbooks as well as associated shipping and administrative costs.
The SCCM-FCCS grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of four courses will be funded per fiscal year; SCCM’s fiscal year begins October 1st. If all grants for that fiscal year have been awarded, a site may reapply for the next grant cycle. A site may receive an SCCM-FCCS grant only one time.
In order for a project to be eligible, it must meet the following criteria:
- The sponsored course benefits healthcare workers in impoverished (Level 1) or developing (Level 2) nations -- Click here for a list of eligible countries.
- The sponsor is a nonprofit organization within the United States, international critical care organization, or a hospital outside of the United States within an eligible country.
- The FCCS training will provide a sustainable program for improving care in the local community.
- A current SCCM member must consult and support the project.
- A letter of reference from the partnering or intermediary organization, if applicable.
- A willingness to provide a program summary that will be published in SCCM’s Critical Connections and/or SCCM's e-newsletter.
The SCCM- FCCS grant will meet the following financial responsibilities for an FCCS course:

FCCS course license fee.

32 FCCS textbooks. Additional texts may be purchased at cost.

Administrative and course materials, including pre/post tests, slides, skill station guidelines, and administrative forms.

Shipping costs associated with texts.
Please note that the SCCM-FCCS grants do not cover the following expenses:
- Travel expenses for faculty.
- Equipment necessary to establish skill stations (a recommended equipment list is included in the application).
Upon receipt of completed applications, the FCCS Program Committee Chair, Vice Chair and SCCM staff will review each application and select the recipients.
